Feel the northern atmosphere and have a nice weekend in Helsinki, the daughter of the Baltic Sea! We welcome you to participate in HOT Helsinki Badminton and Floorball Tournament. This is the third time in badminton and first time in floorball when we have an international tournament. Badminton tournament is open to men and women at levels B and C in categories single and double and level B/C in mixed double. In floorball we have one division with mixed teams. After the games we will party and on Sunday and we continue with the brunch. We are looking forward seeing you in Helsinki!

ACCOMMODATION

We co-operate with Hotel Crowne Plaza Helsinki (www.crowneplaza-helsinki.fi), which offers You a special price during the tournament weekend (September 23-27, 2010). Crowne Plaza Helsinki is a high-standard hotel in Helsinki city centre. The airport bus stops in the front of the hotel. By tram it takes 3-4 minutes to Helsinki gay scene and underground station Rautatientori from where you can reach the tournament arena easily by tube and bus. Price for single room is 80 € and double room is 95 € per night including buffet breakfast, sauna and entrance to Forever Gym and DaySpa. Make your reservation by phone +358-20-055055. ARRIVAL

Finnair (www.finnair.com) has the best non-stop flight connections to Helsinki. It has for example six destinations in Germany (Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, München, Stuttgart), four in United Kingdom (Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Heathrow, Manchester) and many daily flights from Amsterdam, Brussels, Geneva, Paris and Zurich. Finnair is a member of Oneworld alliance. SAS (http://www.flysas.com) has many daily flights from Norway and Sweden to Helsinki. Blue1 (www.blue1.com) has non-stop flights for example from Berlin, London, Paris, Zurich and from Norway and Sweden. Blue1 is a subsidiary of SAS and it is a member of StarAlliance. Lufthansa (www.lufthansa.com) flyes daily from Frankfurt and Munich to Helsinki.

So call cheap-flight-companies has only a little to offer: Air Berlin (www.airberlin.com) flies from Berlin Tegel and Düsseldorf to Helsinki, easyJet (www.easyjet.com) from London Gatwick, Manchester and Paris to Helsinki and Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) from Bremen, Frankfurt Hahn, Edinburgh and London Stanstead to Tampere (160 km north of Helsinki). Norwegian (www.norwegian.no) flyes from Oslo and Stockholm to Helsinki. Wingo XPRS (www.wingo.fi) flyes from Stockholm-Bromma to Helsinki. Don´t forget airBaltic via Riga (www.airbaltic.com).

From Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport you reach Helsinki City Centre easily by taking bus number 615 (to Rautatientori / Railway Station, platform 21). A single regional ticket costs 4 €. Perhaps it will be useful to buy a regional tourist ticket, which is valid in Cities of Helsinki, Vantaa and Espoo for 1-5 days and costs 12-36 €. The tournament hall - like the airport - is situated in Vantaa. You can buy the tourist ticket from R-Kiosk at the airport. Inside City of Helsinki a single ticket costs 2,20 €. Helsinki tourist ticket for 1-5 days costs 6-18 €.

THE ARENA

Both tournaments will take place in Campo Sportcenter which is one of the best badminton and floorball halls in Finland. By public transport from Helsinki City Centre first take the metro line to eastbound. Every second train goes to end station Mellunmäki, where you change to bus number 62 (to Tikkurila). On Saturday morning metro leaves from Railway Station for example at 7.59, 8.29 and 8.39 a.m., then you can change in Mellunmäki at 8.30, 9.00 and 9.10 a.m. After 3-4 minutes and 4 bus stops you get off and you see our tournament hall on the right side. If you buy a single ticket, buy a regional one, and you can change during 80 minutes. Public transport information you can find at www.hsl.fi/en or www.hkl.fi.

During the tournament you will get the lunch package. There is also a cafeteria in Campo where you can buy sandwiches, pastry, drinks and so on at reasonable prices. There is also a sport equipment shop.

TOURNAMENT

BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

Every player and couple will have at least three games of one set (21 points) in the pools. Most of the players and couples will continue with knock-out system. The finals will be played as best of three sets. In each category three best players or couples will be rewarded.

FLOORBALL TOURNAMENT

The tournament will be played at one level and with mixed teams. However, it is not required to have players of more than one sex in the team. Every team will have at least four games. Three best teams will be rewarded.

The games will be played on an official floorball rink of size ca. 40m x 20m. Games are played with five players on each side and without goalkeepers.

Note that the tournament will be arranged if minimum of four teams sign up. Number of teams signed up is so far 9, but when the situation changes, it will be notified here.
